Today’s Financial Market Recap: What You Missed

  1. U.S. Non-Manufacturing PMI Beats Expectations:

    • December's non-manufacturing PMI came in at 54.3, beating forecasts of 52.5. This signals strong economic activity in the services sector.

    • Why it matters: A strong services sector means the U.S. economy isn’t slowing down as quickly as some feared. This could lead to continued volatility in USD pairs.

  2. Eurozone Retail Sales Slip:

    • Retail sales in the Eurozone dropped by 0.8% month-over-month, a tad worse than expected.

    • Why it matters: This data reinforces concerns about sluggish consumer spending, potentially putting more pressure on the euro.

  3. Oil Prices Inch Higher:

    • Crude oil climbed to $81.50 per barrel after reports of increased demand from China.

    • Why it matters: Rising oil prices impact inflation and can sway commodity currencies like CAD. Keep an eye on USDCAD.

  • Today’s EURUSD Swing Trade Signal:

    We’re eyeing a EURUSD SELL setup with great potential. It’s a swing trade, so don’t expect fireworks in a few hours. This one could take a few days to play out, but the levels are clean, and the risk-to-reward ratio is solid. Here are the levels:

    • Entry: 1.03100

    • Stop Loss: 1.03562 (46 pips)

    • Take Profit: 1.02206 (89 pips)

    • Risk/Reward Ratio: 1:1.95

    Remember: Always manage your risk properly. Don’t go all in on a single trade. Discipline and patience pay off.
